Padley Housing Association Ltd
Financial Conduct Authority, Company Number – IP16489R
Introduction
Padley Housing Association Ltd is a Charitable Housing Association set up in the early 1960s by Catholic businessmen in Sheffield. The original purpose was to help its tenants to eventually buy their own homes, but in the 1970s, this purpose changed to providing safe, comfortable, affordable flats for people aged over 60.
Padley Housing Association is registered as a Charity with the Financial Conduct Authority but is not registered with the Charity Commission. This is because it does not collect money from external sources. Instead, the Association’s income is derived from the rent paid by tenants. The Association, however is primarily motivated by Catholic Christian charitable convictions in that it provides affordable accommodation for elderly people who may have health and/or money problems. It also seeks to manage its tenants in a way that is tolerant of any such problems. The Association, however, does not tolerate the accruing of rent arrears or unacceptable behaviour by tenants.
Padley Housing Association Management
Padley Housing Association is managed by a Management Committee which meets quarterly to take decisions about the lettings, welfare and upkeep/improvement of the property portfolio. If decisions need to be taken in between meetings this is done by email consultation.
Membership of the Committee is shown on a separate page. Its members have diverse knowledge and experience and whilst it is useful to be able to draw on any relevant experience that a member may have the primary requirement is that members are committed to the charitable ethos of the Association, have sound judgement and can work well in a committee, that is, they can formulate and express their own views whilst respecting the views of others.
Members of the Management Committee, including the Chair, are unpaid but can claim expenses.
The Association’s finances are managed by a chartered accountant who is also the company secretary; Mr John S Danson of Danson & Co Ltd, 35 Salisbury Road, Dronfield, Derbyshire, S18 1UG (Association’s Registered Office)
The day to day management of the Association’s property and tenants, including rent collection, is by professional estate managers; Hunters Estate and Letting Agents, 208 Crookes, Sheffield, S10 1TG. Telephone 0114 266 6626.
